Obituary of Albino Casagrande Caliman

Albino Casagrande Caliman, 56, of Salem passed away peacefully at home on March 10, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Linhares, Brazil, he was the son of the late Primo Caliman and Italia Elena Casagrande. His love of American culture brought him the US in 1997. Albino was trained as a skilled welder in Brazil, and worked for 15 years as a house painter on the North Shore. After being sponsored by a local painting contractor, he finally received his green card at the time he was diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer. In August, Albino made on last trip to Brazil to visit beloved family and the ranch he developed in Rondonia. His dream was to be able to spend his summers on the North Shore and winters in Brazil. Albino will always be remembered for his gentleness, warmth, intelligence, compassion and love of nature. He touched many lives. He is survived by his loving family, daughter Dagmar, sons Darlam and Glauber of Brazil, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 13 at 11:30 am at the Harmony Grove Cemetery in Salem. Those wishing to attend may meet at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to follow procession to graveside.
