Obituary of Alice F. (Yamchuk) Marchetti

Alice F. (Yamchuk) Marchetti PEABODY—Alice F. (Yamchuk) Marchetti, 90, beloved wife of the late Amilio “Babe” Marchetti, died unexpectedly on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late James and Martha (Procopovich) Yamchuk. She graduated from Peabody High School where she played on the Girls Basketball Team, and was a lifelong resident of the city. Besides nurturing her family, Mrs. Marchetti worked with Hygrade until they merged with Sylvania. She later worked for the City of Peabody as a Cook in the Cafeteria for Kiley Brothers School. Alice was a member of the Italian-American Club Women’s Auxilliary where she also helped on Beano. She volunteered with the Torigian Senior Center of Peabody, and with Hug-A-Bears for children. She enjoyed flowers in her garden, watching birds, and travel with her sister. She will be mostly remembered for her devotion to her family and especially grateful for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters and a son, Donna & her husband Frank Vercellone, Anita Bergin, and Dean & his wife Kathleen Marchetti all of Peabody; six grandchildren, Kevin Vercellone, Ryan & his wife Lyn Vercellone, Kelley & her husband John Surels, Lisa Bergin, Amelia & her husband Jeremy Hincman, and Jacquelyn Marchetti; four great-grandchildren, Baylie Anastosopoulos, James Hincman, Ava Surels, and Gianni Vercellone, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by her sisters Ann Seaberg and Pauline Egan. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday March 16, 2013 at 10 AM for her Funeral Service in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
