Obituary of Ralph M. Carrick

Ralph M. Carrick, 65, of Peabody, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his family by his side. Ralph was the beloved husband of the late Cynthia A. (Kulakowski) Carrick who passed away on October 7, 2012 Ralph was born in Elyria, OH, on January 6, 1948, son of Marian L. (Becker) Carrick and the late Ralph G. Carrick. He was raised and educated in Elyria. Following his graduation in 1966, he enlisted into the U.S. Army, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam as a 7 6Y40 Unit Supply Sergeant, and being honorably discharged in 1972. Ralph met Cynthia the love of his life at a USO dance in 1968, and then they shared 44 years of marriage. He has been a resident of Peabody since 1972. Ralph was employed as a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service for many years taking an early retirement 6 years ago to care for his ailing wife Cynthia. Ralph had a passion for his family and later he was so proud of his 4 grandchildren and he enjoyed following their progress. He was an accomplished marksman and enjoyed hunting as well as target practice at the shooting range. Ralph is survived by his daughter and her husband, Becky and Louie Silva of Peabody; his grandchildren, Katelyn and Meagan Manning of Gloucester, Shannon and Erin Silva of Peabody; his mother, Marian Carrick; his siblings, Michael Carrick, Diane VanHook and Darlene Caputo; his sister-in-law Sandy Mottola and her husband Jerry of Haverhill; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased 2 years ago by a daughter Christine Manning, and a brother Dennis Carrick. His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s memory to Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
