Obituary of Mary Tsouvalas

Mary Tsouvalas, 95, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Pilgrim Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, on December 8, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Merope (Anastasiou) Tsouvalas. She was a retired Foreign Service Reserve Officer of the. Department of State, Washington, D.C. For her outstanding accomplishments in her work for the Department of State, she received a Superior Service Award. She served her country with honor and distinction. She was Salutatorian of her graduating class at Peabody High School and graduated with Presidential Honors from Salem State University. Through her philanthropic contributions, she has touched many lives. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Speros, Peter and Emmanuel, and is survived by her sisters-in-law Dorothy Tsouvalas and Estelle Tsouvalas, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody. As per her request there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
