Tracy E. (MacGilvray) Kemp
PEABODY-- Tracy E. (MacGilvray) Kemp, 47, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 23, 2013 at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of Utta Herrmann of Beverly and the late James J. MacGilvray, Jr. She grew up in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1984. She then studied nursing at Essex Aggie.
Tracy had a strong, earthly and nurturing spirit. She would always find ways to help others, give things to people, or just do whatever she could in volunteering to help make the world a better place for those with whom she came in contact. She was a volunteer with Rehab 5 at fire scenes, helped with the Relay for Life Walk for Cancer each June at Peabody High among many other untold good deeds. She loved the outdoors and always felt better in nature.
She is survived by her son and two daughters, Jordan Kemp of Peabody, Alaina Hayes of Melrose, and Amy Seidenfuss of Gloucester; two grandchildren, Aiden Hayes and Makayla Hayes; her mother Utta Herrmann of Beverly; her brothers James J. MacGilvray, III and David J. MacGilvray, both of Danvers, and Christopher MacGilvray of Peabody, her three sisters, Deborah Driscoll of Derry, NH, and Lisa Perez of Danvers, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She also helped support Jennifer Oswalt by acting as an adopted mother, and Jennifer’s two children who all live in Alabama. She was preceded in death besides her father, by a sister Paula Moyers.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
