Obituary of Katherine (Mangouranes) Kirlis

Katherine Kirlis, 94, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Stephen Kirlis. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Dubanges) Mangouranes. She later lived in Lynn and has spent the last 60 years living in Peabody. Katherine was last employed with Salem Hospital as a food preparer in the dietary department for over 15 years before she retired. In her retirement, she enjoyed reading going to movies and shopping. Katherine is survived by a son, George Kirlis of Peabody, two grandchildren, Lisa and Scott Abramovitz and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ethel Abramovitz, her siblings, Peter, Nick, Danny, Tony, and Teddy Mangouranes, Rosie Rouvalis and Priscilla Vaciliou, and her granddaughter Kimberly. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 8:30 – 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
