Obituary of Antonio Texeira Bernardo

Antonio Texeira Bernardo, 89, of Peabody died Friday evening at the Salem Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Augusta Alves (Correia) Bernardo. He was born in Vila Real Tras-os-Montes, Portugal, the son of the late Domingos and Olivia (Texeira) Bernardo and had resided there before moving to Peabody in 1974. He was first employed in the Leather Industry at Sirois Leather Co., Peabody and later worked at the Kernwood Restaurant in Lynnfield and Augustine’ s Restaurant in Saugus prior to his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and being with his family. He is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, George and Cathleen Bernardo of Tewksbury and Joe and Maria Bernardo of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Ana and Bill Sweeney of Peabody; a brother and sister-in-law, Diamentino and Acedelia Bernardo of Peabody; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Bernardo. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location in Peabody. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
