Obituary of Marilyn V (Armell) Howell

Marilyn V. Howell, 73, of Peabody, died peacefully Wednesday evening with her family by her side following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late William H. Howell. Born in Burlington, VT, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Virginia (Mears) Armell. She was raised and educated in Vermont, later lived in Salem and has lived in Peabody for the past 46 years. Marilyn was employed at Medtronic’s in Danvers as a medical assembler before she retired in 2004. After her children were grown, Marilyn attended North Shore Community College and received her associate’s degree in liberal arts, and then continued taking classes at Salem State in computers. Marilyn enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and traveling around the country side, especially during the fall foliage. She also enjoyed listening to country music and Christian music and her favorite was the Gathers Brothers. She is survived by three sons, William W. Howell, Jr. and his wife Denise of Nashua, NH, Michael and his wife Susan Howell of Lynn, and Erin Howell and his fiancé Cynthia Degeis of Lynn, her daughter, Angela and her husband Gregory Lane of Gloucester, four brothers, Clyde, Sid, Morris, and Roy Armell all of Vermont, and is also survived by 10 grandchildren and a great grandchild. She was predeceased by her son Shannon Howell, and by her siblings, Lestor, Howard, Phillip, and Don Armell and Lee Morin. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Second Congregational Church, Maple St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Second Congregational Church, 12 Maple St., Peabody, MA01960. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Grove St., Salem.
