Obituary of Kenneth J. Howland

Kenneth J. Howland, 88 Kenneth J. Howland, 88, beloved husband of the late Virginia (Mills) Howland, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday following an extended illness. Born in Danforth, ME, he was the son of the late Uriah and Lavina (McIver) Howland. He lived in Princeton, ME in his youth and attended schools there. He moved to Massachusetts, living in Lynn for about 25 years, attended Engineering School in New Jersey, and lived in Peabody for the last 41 years.Mr. Howland was a Draftsman with General Electric in Lynn for 38 years before retiring 25 years ago. He loved music, especially Elvis and Traditional Country Music, was handy around the house with repairs & mechanical work, and had a special avocation building and flying model radio-controlled airplanes. He spent some winters in Davenport, FL and loved his being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by his family, including his son John K. Howland of Peaobdy; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna M. Howland of Peabody, Margaret & Richard Carey of Beverly and Cheryl & Philip Daniels of Salem; four grandchildren, Robin L. Carey and Jonathan R. Carey both of Beverly, and Matthew P. Daniels and Marc D. Daniels, both of Salem; one brother, Bruce & Evelyn Howland of ME; four sisters, Dorothy Heffren, Althea & George McLaughlin, and Eugenia Lawless all of ME, and Ruth Nicol of Beverly, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, and a grandson, Adam Carey. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Joseph’ s Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers or to North Shore ARC, 64 Holten St., Danvers, MA 01923.
