Obituary of Willard L. Hyde

Willard L. Hyde, 87 PEABODY Willard L. Hyde, 88, of Brooksby Village, formerly of New Rochelle, NY, beloved husband of Diana (Janer) Hyde, died Monday at Renaissance Gardens in Brooksby Village after a short illness. Born in New Rochelle, NY on April 21, 1918, he was the son of the late Herbert and Melvina (Lambden) Hyde. He graduated from New Rochelle High School at the age of 16, and then earned his bachelor’ s degree and MBA from Columbia University. Mr. Hyde served in the United States Army during World War II during which he was stationed in London. When he returned, he went to work as an accountant for the firm of Price, Waterhouse. He later joined the accounting firm of Meyer, Greene & Degge where he was a CPA and Partner for almost 50 years. Mr. Hyde and his wife were longtime members of the Davenport Club in New Rochelle and parishioners at Holy Family Church there. They moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody in 2001 when he finally retired from his accounting firm. There he was able to pursue his love of books, plays and movies. In addition to his wife, Diana of Peabody, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, are: one daughter and son-in-law, Anne Hyde & William Haynsworth of Brookline, MA; a son and daughter-in-law, James & Dagny Hyde of New Rochelle, NY; three granddaughters, Jessica Hyde Haynsworth of Brookline and Elizabeth and Jennifer Hyde of New Rochelle, and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Larrabee Lemay and Melvina Hyde Stohldrier. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to the Funeral Service on Friday at 12 Noon at Brooksby Village Chapel. A visitation will precede starting at 11:30 A.M. Burial will be with a Graveside Committal at 12 Noon in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Brooksby Village Scholarship Fund, Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, MA 01960.
