Obituary of Elene (Patsiaris) Petrovitsis

Elene Petrovitsis, 90, of Madbury, NH and formerly of Peabody, died Sunday evening at her home following a long illness. She was the wife of the late James Petrovitsis. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Chresoula (Androniko) Patsiaris. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Elene was first employed at GTE Sylvania in Salem as a productions supervisor for 41 years before she co-founded with her son the Durham House of Pizza in Durham New Hampshire in 1976. She was a member of both the Philoptochos and Daughters of Penelope at St. Vasilios Church as well as the Quarter Century Club at GTE Sylvania. Elene is survived by her daughter and son, Elizabeth “Betty” and her husband James Chongris of both Rye, NH and St. Pete’s FL., and Stephen and his wife Rennie Petrovitsis of Madbury, NH, her sister, Vassy Helas of Peabody, her beloved six grandchildren, Dean Chongris of Andover, Angela Chongris of Durham, NH, and James, John, Justin, and Jordan Petrovitsis all of Madbury, NH, two great grandchildren, Jacob and Patrick Chongris and also by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Emmanuel Patsiaris, Georgia Kanarellis, and Maria Canatselos. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 PM Noon at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:30 until 11:30 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
