Obituary of Janet S. O'Neill
Janet S. O’Neill, 80, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died Thursday evening at the NSMCSalemHospital after a brief illness. She was born in Peabody on November 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Richard and Anna V. (Buckley) O’Neill and was a graduate of St. John’s Elementary and High School in Peabody and SalemCommercialSchool. She later matriculated at U Mass Boston and also at American Institute of Banking.
Janet had been employed with the former Warren Five Cents Savings Bank in Peabody as a teller and later as a treasurer and incorporator. Following her retirement there, she worked in Management service with the G.E. Credit Union in Lynn for many years. She also served on a supervisory committee at the Peabody Municipal Credit Union. Janet had been a volunteer at the HuntHospital and had been a member of the Danvers Council on Aging and enjoyed going on trips around New England. She had been a devout member of St. Richard’s Church in Danvers.
She is survived by her sister, Anne V. O’Neill of Danvers, a niece Joyce Jackson of Warwick, RI, and a nephew, Ken Trask of Beverly and many grand nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard D. O’Neill, Eleanor Trask of Beverly and Mary D. O’Neill of Danvers.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., (Downtown) Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Monday at 8:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Richard’s Church, Danvers at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Richard Church, Forest St., Danvers, MA or to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns at 15 Mt. Carmel Rd., Danvers, MA01923 in her memory.
