Obituary of Jean Meade

Jean Meade, 82, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Murrill) Meade. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1948. She was employed with Verizon for over 40 years and retired as a manager in 1990. She was a member of the Third Order of Mary “Sister Margaret Mary’, and was a poll volunteer for the city of Peabody Ward 1 Precinct 2 for many years. She was dedicated to her family and remained friends with five of her schoolmates and went on pilgrimages to Ireland and Canada and traveled throughout the world with them. She is survived by her sister, Mary Leary of Belmont and by her nieces and nephews, James Leary, JoAnn Phelps, Arthur Leary, Patricia McGrath, Jeanne Leary, John Leary and is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Rev. John Meade S.M., her sister, Madeline Meade and by her niece, Mary Whitehead. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial services will be private.
