Obituary of Antonio A. Almeida
Antonio A. Almeida, 75, of Peabody, died early Monday afternoon at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Tavares) Almeida with whom he shared over 52 years of marriage.
Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Rose America (Antunes) de Almeida. He later immigrated to the United States and has spent the last 65 years living in Peabody.
He was a veteran of the Korean War who served with the United States Army. He later worked in the leather factories in Peabody and finally at the old United Shoe in Beverly before retiring.
He was a member of the Portuguese America War Veterans, Post 1 as well as the CLC club, both in Peabody. He also enjoyed gardening and painting.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two sons, Tony Almeida of Orlando, Fla and Don Almeida of Peabody, two daughters, Kathleen Robertson of Middleton and Maryann Waldron of Danvers. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late James and Donna Almeida, brother of the late Joseph Almeida and Anna Espinola.
His funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
