Obituary of Protodeacon Basil William Andruchow PHD
Protodeacon Basil William Andruchow, Phd ( Fr. Dn. Basil ), age 72, passed peacefully on, Wed., June 12 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Beloved husband of Mary Rose Long Andruchow, of 48 years. Loving father of Lena Helen and Husband Paul Filanowski of Philadelphia, Natasha Vogt and husband Gerard of Saugus, Peter Andruchow and wife Kristin, of Saugus, Fr. Nichols Andruchow and wife Merilynn of Rosarita, Mexico. Cherished grandfather of Atticus, Owen, Joshua, Luke, Elias Andruchow, Anneliese and Xavier Vogt, William Filanowski. Dear brother of Paul Andruchow and wife Stephanie, Mary Anne Foley and husband Dennis all of Stoughton, Walter Andruchow and wife Barbara of Plymouth. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Protodeacon Basil served at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Salem. He earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College, his masters from Holy Cross College and his Phd from Tulane Univ. He taught at Holy Cross for 7 years, worked 15 years for Norton Company in Worcester as Analitical Lab Manager and then retired in 2007 from the MWRA where he was the Quality Assurance Manager. Known as the balladeer to his friends and family, he was an avid reader, loved playing the guitar, banjo, and recording. There will be a memorial service and viewing for friends and family at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 64 Forrester St., Salem MA 01970, 7:00 pm Friday. Funeral service and Liturgy will be 10:00 am Saturday at St. Nicholas followed by burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Icon Fund, 64 Forrester St., Salem, MA 01970.
