Obituary of Mary Veronica Whelan

Mary V. Whelan, 95, of Peabody and formerly of Middleton, died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday evening at the Ledgewood Nursing Facility in Beverly. She was the devoted wife of the late Bartholomew J. Whelan. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Catherine (Farrell) Murphy. She later lived in Middleton and has spent the last 10 years living at Brooksby Village in Peabody. She attended Burdett Business School and was a member of the St. Agnes Ladies Sodality in Middleton. Mary is survived by two sons, John T. Whelan of Mexico City, Mexico and Stephen and his wife Sandra Whelan of Topsfield, her two daughters, Marylou Whelan of Easton, MD and Christine and her husband William Covey of Sterling, VA and is also survived by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Murphy. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 300 Brooksby Village Drive Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
