Obituary of Robert Bertram Dunn
Peabody, April 2, 2003. Robert Bertram Dunn, 85, of Peabody, died early Tuesday morning at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Jeanne M. (Levesque) Dunn with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage.
Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Eben and Julia C. (Wilt) Dunn. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1936.
He was a veteran of World War II, served in the European Theatre of Operations with the United States Army. After the war he worked as a Firefighter for the city of Peabody for over 32 years, before retiring as a Captain in 1980.
He was a member and former Exalted Ruler of the Elks B.P.O.E.# 1409 in Peabody, and Deacon and strong supporter of the South Congregation Church in Peabody. He also was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing at Olde Salem Greens and the Meadow at Peabody, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen R. and Maryann Dunn of Danvers; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Beth and William O’ Brien of Medfield, and Suzanne Dunn of Wakefield; 3 sisters-in-law, Lois LeBlanc of Salem, Joan Levesque of Charleston, South Carolina, and Marian Gautreau of Anaheim, Ca., 5 grandchildren, James and Christine O’ Brien of Medfield, and Julia, Andrew, and Brian Dunn of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William and Charles Dunn, Grace Fellows, and Jessie Jean.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the South Congregational Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visitation on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility.
