Obituary of Mary F. (O'Brien) Gosselin RN, COHN-S

Mary F. (O’Brien) Gosselin RN, COHN-S PEABODY—Mary F. (O’Brien) Gosselin RN, COHN-S, beloved wife of the late John Gosselin, Sr., died peacefully on Saturday evening June 22, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Frances (Sullivan) O’Brien. She grew up in Dorchester where she attended schools and graduated from Girls Latin High School. She later graduated from North Shore Community College and Salem State College with a degree in Nursing. She was a longtime Peabody resident. Mrs. Gosselin was a Registered Nurse and was employed with the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody and Saugus General Hospital. She focused on occupational health, and soon was the Director of Federal Occupational Health in Boston. Mary had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned her training business, Industrial Medical Programs in which she trained First Responders and early Emergency Medical Techs (EMTs), which was based in Peabody. She consulted with many businesses and companies, and retired from Eastman Gelatin in 2009. She was a member of the North of Boston Occupational Nurses Association where she served on the Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Red Cross, active in St. Adelaide’s Church, and was a Scouting Leader for girls and boys with Brownies and Girl Scouts, then Cub Scouts, Webelos, and Boy Scouts. She cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed swimming and taking her children along with their friends to the beach in their “Beachwagon”, often with curlers in her hair. Her love of the ocean was shared with all her grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Glenda Cantin of Beverly, June Gosselin-Wentworth & her husband Bob of Peabody, and Rose Lawrence & her husband Kevin of Haverhill; a son John & his wife Judy Gosselin of Deerfield, NH eight grandchildren, Craig & his wife Tiffany Cantin of Ipswich, Caitlin Cantin of Beverly, Meredith, Jameson and Mariah Wentworth of Peabody, Renee and Alex Gosselin of Deerfield, NH, and T.J. Lawrence of Hampstead, NH; two great-grandchildren, Cylas and Finn Cantin of Ipswich; a sister Loretta O’Brien of Sharon, MA, a Goddaughter Candice Shields-Dobson of Australia, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday June 27, 2013 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to either Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
