Obituary of Marion E. (Wood) Drury

Marion E. (Wood) Drury PEABODY—Marion E. (Wood) Drury, 100, beloved wife of the late William G. Drury, died peacefully Monday evening June 24, 2013 at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers. Born in Rochester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Edna F. (Osborne) Wood. She grew up in Rochester where she lived for many years, and graduated from Oak Grove High School in Vassalboro, Maine, Class of 1931. She moved to the North Shore where she met her husband, and lived in Peabody for many years before returning to live in the Exeter and Kingston, NH areas. Mrs. Drury enjoyed her nurturing role as a homemaker for her family. She was a woman with strong faith, and active many years at the 2nd Congregational Church in Peabody. She was a member of the Christian Women Association of the North Shore. She also was gifted in crafts, as she knitted and made hook rugs for which she earned awards and a Blue Ribbon at the Topsfield Fair and other events. She was musically inclined, as she took piano lessons and enjoyed playing the organ. She is survived by a son, William Drury & his wife Pamela of Peabody; three grandchildren, Susan Schieding of Danvers, Bryan Drury of Lowell, and Barbara Drury of Lynn; three great-grandchildren, Lillian Lyman, Reese Schieding and Cameron Schieding; a brother Walter Wood of FL; a sister Ruth Young of Rochester, NH, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Edward Wood. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday at 9:30 to 10:30 AM for a visitation in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 10:30 AM.
