Obituary of Grace "Polly" (Meyer) Lellman

PEABODY—Grace Pauline “Polly” (Meyers) Lellman, 97, beloved wife of the late Charles Lellman, died peacefully Thursday morning June 27, 2013 at the Brooksby Village, in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Zelda (Friese) Meyers. She grew up in Chambersburg, graduating from Chambersburg High School, Class of 1933. Mrs. Lellman lived in Greenport, NY on Long Island for many years where she owned and operated the Sterlington Hotel for 35 years until retiring in 1981. As one who wanted to keep active, she also worked as a Reservations Specialist with Cross Island Ferry for 15 years. Polly enjoyed reading, playing card games such as Bridge, Rummy, and Peaknuckle. She was gifted in crafts and did counting cross stitching. She had an adventurous side with a passion for travel to Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Turkey, and many destinations in Europe. She also was quite active at Brooksby Village with the many social and excursion events during her 10 years living there. More importantly, she will be remembered for her loving devotion to her family and her faith. She is survived by two daughters, Laraine Lellman Woo & her husband Frank of Andover and Eileen Getches of Fort Collins, CO; two sons, John Lellman of Northboro and Joseph Lellman of Florence, MA; 13 grandchildren, Meghan Woo, Caitlin Woo and Lauren Woo, Charles Lellman, Michael Getches and Carolyn Getches, Grace Lellman, Timothy Lellman and Molly Lellman, Charlotte Lellman, Sophie Lellman, Georgie Lellman and Gus Lellman; two sisters, Vera Rohrer and Mildred Miller, both of PA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by brothers Arthur Meyers and Bryce Meyers, and sisters Gertrude Hissong and Leoda Baer. A family Graveside Funeral Service was held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Greenport, Long Island, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday July 8, 2013 in Brooksby Village Chapel, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to Polycystic Kidney Disease, c/o National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
