Obituary of Lydia Szaban
Lydia Szaban, 80, beloved wife of the late Kenneth Szaban, died peacefully Saturday June 29th at Aviv Centers for Living in Peabody
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Paramon and Micalina Micalchuck. Lydia grew up in Peabody, graduating from Peabody High School. She was a lifetime of Peabody, residing shortly in Salem.
Lydia was a talented singer and in the 1950’s and early 60’s traveled extensively throughout the Northeast and Canada as a professional singer; entertaining with the likes of Norm Crosby, Frankie Fontaine, Rodney Dangerfield and talented others. Lydia worked for Sylvania in Salem for many years before retiring.
Lydia’s joys in life were her extended family, bingo, Foxwoods Casino, and jewelry shopping. Nothing made her happier than bingo with her nieces Carol, Mary, and Leona or off the cuff visits to Foxwoods with her favorite boys, John and Mike and their wives Caroline and Denise. She became the matriarch of the family and a mother to her nephew Raymond and his wife Barbara. Her love and generosity will never be forgotten.
Lydia is survived by her nephew Raymond “Reggie” Hamilton and his wife Barbara of Salem, her nieces, Leona Hamilton of Salem, Carol and Mary Micalchuk of Peabody, Nadine Hamilton and her son Sean Baskett of Peabody and his son Sean Adam, John Bollettiero and his wife Caroline and son Leo of Peabody, Michael Bollettiero and his wife Denise of Peabody, Dawn and Tom Sheehan of New Hampshire, Michael Micalchuk of Danvers and numerous other family throughout Massachusetts.
Besides her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Peter, Walter, Michael, George, and John Micalchuck, and also by two loving sisters, Helen Brown of Peabody and Sonia Hamilton of Salem.
Lydia’s Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
