Obituary of Carol (Georgelas) Katsarakes

Carol (Georgelas) Katsarakes, age 87, born on June 14, 1926 in Lynn, MA, resided in Lexington and formerly of Peabody, peacefully passed away. She was the daughter of the late Peter & Theohari Georgelas. Her husband Peter, whom she shared over 52 years of marriage, predeceased her in 2008. She is survived by her children who she so loved and, who in return, adored her: George and his wife Yiota Katsarakes of Lexington and grandchildren Kiki, Peter and Vasili, Heidi and her husband John Marino of Andover and grandchildren Michael and Christina, and Irene and her husband John Basdakis of Aliso Viejo, CA and grandchildren Caroline and Spiro. She is also survived by her sisters, Georgia Theophilopoulos of Salem, Margaret Skaliotis of Florida and Sophia Georgelas of Florida. She was predeceased by her sisters Stella Martin of Florida, Julie Grant of Florida, Chris Skrekas of Dracut and her brother James Georgelas of Salem. Carol was a loving wife and mother who raised her family while working at General Electric until her retirement in 1986. She volunteered in the hospital during WW II, was a past President of the Daughters of Laconia, and a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church. She will be remembered for her kindness and caring of many friends and family. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 8th from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in CedarGroveCemetery, Peabody.
