Obituary of Robert P. Brisson
Robert P. Brisson, 85, of Peabody, MA and formerly of Pleasantville, NY, died peacefully on July 7, 2013 surrounded in love by his wife of 62 years, nee Elizabeth A. Phillips and his blessed family; Claudia of San Rafael, CA, John Brisson and Jo Hannafin of Greenwich, Ct, Jane and Ben Siebecker of Amesbury, MA, Marcia Brisson and Robert Foley of Falls Church, VA, Daniel brisson of Ansonia, CT and Amy Brisson of Arlington, VA. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Madeleine Gonard Brisson and Alphonse V. Brisson, his twin , John G. Brisson and hisbrothers Alphonse and Jacques.
He is survived by his wife, six children, 14 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Bob was a devoted family man spending over 55 years in Pleasantville, NY. He was dedicated to the practice of Law, his time on the bench, his community and his church. Bob loved his familial beach cottage in Wells, ME where he swam, rode waves, ate lobster and played family games and bridge into the wee hours of the night. He was reared in White Plains, NY, and spent summers in upstate NY at his uncle’s farm. In 1945, Bob entered the US Army serving in WW 11 until his discharge in 1947. He graduated from UnionCollege and received a Bachelor of Laws degree from ColumbiaUniversity. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1953 and also the US Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and ultimately to Supreme Court of the United States of America. Bob entered the law practice with his father, and started the firm of Brisson and Brisson and continued the practice until the offices closed in 2009. He had served on many boards and committees in Pleasantville, and was a member of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, the Knights of Columbus,
He was an avid Bridge player and had belonged to the American Contract Bridge League and the Eastern MA Bridge Association. He had been a devout parishioner of holy InnocentsChurch in Pleasantville, NY.and dutifully attended mass each Sunday with his wife and 6 children. Bob loved his wife and his family each and every day, to the very end, and that truly is his legacy.
