Obituary of Blanche Josephine (Iavolo) Devaney

Blanche Josephine (Iavolo) Devaney, 88, of Naples, FL, wife of the late John W. Devaney, died on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the North Collier Hospital in Naples, FL. Mrs. Devaney was born in Boston, on March 10, 1925, daughter of Fernando and Marion (Leczczinska) Iavolo. She was raised and educated in East Boston, and moved to Peabody at age 21. Following her retirement in 1991, Blanche moved to Naples Florida. Blanche was employed for 20 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as supervisor of Parks & Rinks until her retirement in1991. Blanche loved Christmas time and she would hold a Children’s Day where she displayed her Christmas Villages and decorations. She enjoyed painting on glass, embroidery, crocheting and knitting as hobbies. Blanche is survived by a daughter, Sandra M. Daniels of Peabody; a son, John W. Devaney II and his wife Linda of Naples; her grandchildren, Christina Daniels, Tracy Collins, Laurie Pelletier, Jason Daniels, Candice Devaney, Mark Devaney and Eric Devaney; 9 great grand children, 2 great great-grandchildren, Jaiden Noelle Devaney and William Harrison Devaney; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Dolores Devaney, Mary Ann Page, Robin Devaney, John W. Devaney Jr., and Jacqueline Devaney and her siblings Joseph “Bucky” Iavolo, Angelo Iavolo, Palma Dullea and Constance Calo. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 14, 2103 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at10 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody.
