Obituary of Anna (Tarashuck) Sawchuk

Anna Sawchuk, 97, of Gloucester and formerly of Peabody, died early Monday Morning at the Seacoast Nursing and RehabCenter in Gloucester. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Sawchuk Sr.. She was born in Lawrence, MA on April 10, 1916, the daughter of the late Alex and Anastacia (Kuchew) Tarashuck and had resided in Peabody Mass most of her life.. She was a graduate of PeabodyHigh School in 1934 and was first employed at the former GTE Sylvania in Salem for 5 years. She later was a sales clerk at the former Jordan Marsh Company at the North Shore Mall, Peabody until her retirement in 1977. Anna was an active parishioner at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Salem and sang in the choir there. She also belonged to the Russian Aid Society and the Golden Age club both of Peabody. She is survived by a Brother, Peter Melnik and his wife Elizabeth of Wilmington, Delaware,; a sister, Mary Robinson of Melbourne, Florida, a granddaughter, Catherine Ketchopulos and her husband George of Rockport, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Nicholas Sawchuk Jr., the sister of the late Gregory and Anton Melnik,, John Tarashuck and Sophia Melnik and the sister-in-law of the late S.T. Robinson. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility with a Panakhida Service at 7:00 PM . Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by Services in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Salem at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in CedarGroveCemetery, Peabody.
