Obituary of George N. Skaliotis
George N. Skaliotis, 69, of Danvers, died unexpectedly Saturday at his residence. He was born in Salem, MA on January 26, 1944, the son of Mary (Kozik) Skaliotis and the late Nicholas Skaliotis and had resided in Danvers most of his life.
George was a graduate of DanversHigh School in 1962 and then entered the US Army in 1963 serving as a paratrooper in the Vietnam War prior to his discharge in 1966. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 100 of Peabody and the American Legion Post 180 of Danvers.
Following his discharge, he was a professional airline pilot with General Aviation for 10 years and later with Crown Airway and Allegheny Commuter Air lines until his retirement in 1996. While growing up, he was a member of the Boy Scouts and became an eagle scout and also a certified Scuba Diver. He also loved cars and was a championship Drag Racer. He had been a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church of Peabody.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Skaliotis of Danvers, and many cousins.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:15 unto 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by Services there at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in CedarGroveCemetery, Peabody,
