Obituary of Chester Marcotti, Jr.

Chester Marcotti Jr., 82, died early Saturday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home, following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Catherine (Morrissey) Marcotti with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Sharon, he was the son of the late Chester & Esther (Pieroni) Marcotti, Sr. He was raised in Somerville and had attended Somerville Public Schools and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He lived in the Great Boston Area for a few years and later had moved to California and then back to the Boston Area and has settled in Peabody for the past 24 years He had worked for GTE in Needham for 6 years as a Comptroller before retiring in 1987. He also had worked for various other companies in California as well as in the Greater Boston Area. While in California he had worked with the space program and the Apollo Space Missions. He had served with the National Guard during WWII. He also had attended Fisher College and The New England Conservatory School of Music, both in Boston. He also was an accomplished musician who played many instruments, but was known for his playing of the Clarinet. He had played with bands in clubs in the Greater Boston Area. Besides his loving wife of 61 years, he is survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-laws, Chester & Antoinette Toni Marcotti, III of Derry, NH, Thomas & Helen Marcotti of Peabody, Ronald Marcotti of Lowell and Michael & Maureen Marcotti of Beverly; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur & Norma Marcotti of Melrose, and 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was the brother of the late Gerald Marcotti, June Losco, and Rita Zammarchi. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility (978) 531-0398, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friend are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 5-8 PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expression of Sympathy can be sent to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma 01923.
