Obituary of Paul Petrathelis

Paul Petrathelis, 75, of Beverly died Friday evening at his residence after a year long illness with cancer. He was the husband of Lorraine (LeFave) Petrathelis. Born in Peabody on August 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Angelo and Bessie (Kostoplulos) Petrathelis and was raised and resided in Peabody most of his life before moving to Beverly. Paul was a truck driver in the transportation industry for 40 years working at the MK Express Company and George’s Transportation Company before retiring a year ago. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Air Force from 1955 until his discharge in 1957. While in the service he played on the baseball teams. Paul was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club and had entered and played several golf tournaments in New England and in Myrtle Beach in So. Carolina. He was a member of the VFW Post 1011 of Peabody and was also active for many years at St Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church co-chairing many basketball and softball tournaments for them. He also was a member of the Order of Moose of Billerica. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, two daughters, Angele Petrathelis of Dallas, Texas and Tuesday Petrathelis of Beverly, a sister-in-law, Liz Petrathelis of No. Hollywood, CA, five grandchildren, Derek and Jeana Grant of Salem, Dillon and Andrew Getso of Texas and Gavyn Thomas Petrathelis of Beverly and many nieces and nephews,. He was the father of the late Angelo Petrathelis, and the brother of the late Manny Petrathelis, Ethel Dodge and Julie Cobb. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27th at the VFW Hall, Stevens St., Peabody from 1- 6 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
