Obituary of Mildred E. "Memere" (Dube) Higinbotham
Mildred E. “Mémère” (Dube) Higinbotham, 83, wife of Donald E. Higinbotham of Lynnfield, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Higinbotham was born in Edmunston, New Brunswick, Canada, on January 31, 1930, daughter of the late Edward and Georgiana (Soucy) Dube. She was raised and educated in Canada and pursued her education at Dalhousie University. Mildred immigrated to the United States in 1954 with her husband. They first lived in Maine and then in 1956 moved to Pennsylvania. The family eventually moved to Massachusetts, and in 1962 purchased their home in Lynnfield.
Mildred was the bookkeeper for the family business, West Peabody Service, for many years. She was a loving mother who dedicated her life to creating a home for her family and supporting them in their endeavors. Later in life, she became the grandmother of 18 whom she cherished. Most recently, she welcomed 2 great granddaughters into the family. Mildred was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield and a Campfire leader for many years. She enjoyed opening her home to spend time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage, Mildred is survived by her children and their spouses, Donald E. Higinbotham of Lynnfield, Annemarie and Kevin Davidson of Claremont, NH, Donna and Pete Canuel of Peabody, Thomas R. and Katie Higinbotham of Edgewater, FL, Ronald W. and Teresa Higinbotham of Peabody, and Dale P. Higinbotham of Lynnfield; 18 grandchildren, twins Danielle & Daniel, Tiffany, Kevin Jr., Paul and his wife Laura, Ryan, Chad, Joe, Josh, Justin, Jason, Jake, Tom Jr., Anthony, Shilynn, Emilia, Austin and Breanna; 2 great granddaughters, Kayden and Addyson; 2 sisters, Leaster Pincombe of St. Bruno, QC, and Loula Sawyer of Lynnfield; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a grandson, Sean Canuel and her siblings, Melford Dube, Lillian Hicks and Evelyn Head.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 2013, at10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Grove Street, Lynnfield, MA.
