Obituary of Helen S. (Saxon) Monte

Helen S. (Saxon) Monte, 94, of Peabody, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Rosewood Nursing Center, Peabody. She was the wife of the late William J. Monte. She was born in Peabody, MA on March 25, 1919, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Sadosky) Saxon and had resided here all her life. She had been employed at the former Charlie Poss Leather Company in Peabody for over twenty five years prior to her retirement. Helen enjoyed working in her garden and growing vegetables, doing arts and crafts and going to the Torigian Senior Center taking part in the activities there. She was a parishioner of St. Vasilios Church, Peabody. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Donna Monte of Salem and a nephew, Speros Saxon of Orange Park, Florida. She was the sister of the late James and Benjamin Saxon. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Vasilios Bell Tower Fund, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody MA 01960 in her memory.
