Obituary of Dorothy A. (Lukowski) Bogdanowicz

Dorothy A. (Lukowski) Bogdanowicz PEABODY--Dorothy (Lukowski) Bogdanowicz, 80, died peacefully on Saturday evening August 3, 2013, at her son’s home in the comforting presence of her family at her side. Dorothy was born in Maspeth, NY in the burrows of Queens, NY, on June 1, 1933, daughter of the late Leo and Charlotte (Bozitsko) Lukowski. She attended William Cowper Jr. High, New Town High School and simultaneously “The Alvienne Theatre Cultural Academy. Dorothy was married on January 10, 1953 to Anthony Bogdanowicz, son of August and Stella Bogdanowicz. Before retiring, Dorothy worked for Seymore Milstein as his personal assistant, and the FAA in Boston, MA. Dorothy and her husband resided in Queens, NY from 1953 to 1970, Lynn, MA from 1970 to 1980, and Vienna, VA from 1980 to 1984, retiring to Columbia, SC in 1984 where she remained until 2013 before moving to her son’s home in Peabody. Dorothy was member of the Salem Country Club in Peabody, the Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston, VA, and the (Members Club) at Wildwood and Woodcreek Country Club in Columbia, SC. She was also an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield, St. Marks in Vienna, VA, and St. John Neuman in Columbia, SC. She was an active member of the Guild of St. Williams at St. Johns Prep in Danvers, MA. Dorothy enjoyed gourmet cooking entertaining, golfing, dancing, playing bridge, mahjongg, and social events and activities with her husband Tony and her friends. Dorothy is survived by her son Anthony “Boga” and his wife, Dorothy’s “Angel”, Brenda (Tracy) Bogdanowicz of Peabody; two grandchildren, Leah Bogdanowicz and Tony Bogdanowicz III both of Peabody; her siblings Thomas Lukowski of Mechanicsburg, PA, Robert Lukowski of Palm Coast, FL, and Irene Rome of Palm Springs, CA; many nieces and nephews; her adopted “second son” Brian J. Hosker of Lynn, MA, and her best friend Flo Mannino of Lighthouse Point, FL. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday August 10, 2013 from 3 – 6 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, with Dorothy’s Memorial Service held at 5:45 P.M. in the funeral home.
