Obituary of Gregoria T. (Hatjioannou) Economou

Gregoria T. (Hatjioannou) Economou MARBLEHEAD Gregoria T. (Hatjioannou) Economou, 91, beloved wife of the late Theodore Economou, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Greece, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Chreso (Velonis) Hatjioannou. She emigrated to the United States while in her 20’ s, met her husband here and lived in Marblehead for the last 65 years. Besides nurturing and taking care of her homemaker duties, she was a self-employed Seamstress. Mrs. Economou enjoyed being with her family, cooking, gardening and always had a nice spirit about life. She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Nicholas & Mary Economou of Marblehead and Harry & Bette Economou of Lynn; she was the loving Yiayia of Katrina Economou and Christina Economou, both of Marblehead, and Michael Economou of Lynn. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In remembrance, the family requests memorial donations to be distributed to her two churches, St. Vasilios of Peabody and Prophet Elias in Samos, Greece, sent to National Grand Bank, 91 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA 01945
