Obituary of Dolores (Mendonca) Silva
Dolores M. (Mendonca) Silva, 76, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Juventino Silva.
Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Candida (Bettencourt) Mendonca. She was raised and educated in Portugal and in 1966 she immigrated with her family to the United States and has been a resident of Peabody for the past 47 years.
Dolores was employed for over 20 years as packer for the Fishery Product Company in Danvers before retiring 10 years ago. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and the Holy Ghost Society, both in Peabody.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leo and Anna Silva of Beverly, a daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Jim Cercone of Peabody, her siblings, John Mendonca of Danvers, Joe Mendonca of Portugal and Avelina Fagundes of Peabody and she is also survived by her nine loving grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent Mendonca.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 PM and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
