Obituary of Joan E. (Alexander) Caruso
Joan E. (Alexander) Caruso, RN, 78, of West Peabody, died Friday evening at the Mass General Hospital, Boston after a short illness. She was the devoted wife of 52 years to Stephen Caruso. She was born in Boston of October 31, 1934, the daughter of the late Ernest and Eleanor (Hawes) Alexander and was raised in East Boston. She had resided in West Peabody for the past 52 years.
Joan had been a registered nurse for over 20 years at the Malden Hospital prior to her retirement. She was an avid Red Sox Fan and enjoyed going to spring training in Scottsdale Arizona and also in Ft. Myers in Florida cheering on the Red Sox. She also liked watching the Boston Bruins but her cherished moments were spent having time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Stephen, a son Stephen Caruso all of West Peabody, her two sisters, Roberta Kelly of Salem, NH and Lorraine McCarthy and her husband Leonard of Malden, 36 nieces and nephews and many friends. She was the sister of the late Frances Brady, Mary Surrette, Rosemary Fogarty, Ernest and Robert Alexander.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., WestPeabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
