Obituary of Helen (Alexuk) O'Neil

Helen (Alexuk) O’Neil, 88, of Peabody, died Friday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a short illness. She was the wife of the late John O’Neill and also the late William Cavanagh. She was born in Peabody on September 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Michael and Pauline (Soloduk) Alexuk and had resided here all her life. She was a graduate of PeabodyHigh School. She had worked as a civilian employee for the US Government while her husband was in the Service. Later Helen had been employed as an executive secretary at the former Sylvania Lighting Company in Salem for many years. She later worked at Verizon Phone as a sales associate. While working at Sylvania, she was a member of the Sylvania Bowling League. In her later years she enjoyed playing Solitaire on her computer. She very much enjoyed her family and cherished the name “GG” from her great grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lesley and Ronald Williams of Peabody, her grandchildren, William Murphy and his wife Janet and Shannon Murphy Barnes and her husband Raymond all of Peabody, her great grandchildren, Connor and Evan Murphy, Joseph and Ray Barnes and Alexandra and Julia Barnes, her siblings, Howard Alexuk of RI, Lillian Lawson of Olympia, WA, Marion March of Lombard, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Michael and John Alexuk, Sylvia Bozek and Alice Ratican. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody.
