Obituary of Thomas M. Gallagher

Thomas M. Gallagher, 73, of Spring Hill, Fl. and formerly of Peabody, Ma. died Friday at the Brooksville Nursing Care Center in Brooksville, Fl, after a short illness. He was the husband of Mary (Burke) Gallagher with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. He was born and raised in Arlington, Ma., the son of the late Hugh and Mary (Medeiros) Gallagher and had resided in Peabody for 32 years before moving to Spring Hill, Fl. 9 years ago. He had been a salesman for the J.G. Bowden Co. of Boston for 20 years. Later he worked with the Atlantic Textile Co. for 15 years until his retirement 10 years ago. He was a veteran of World War 11 and the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army from 1946 until his discharge in 1954. He enjoyed sailing and was a vice commander of the Quanapowet Yacht Club in Wakefield for many years. Later he became President of the Massachusetts Club of Spring Hill, Fl. and was vice president of the Continental Bowling League at the Mariner Lanes in Spring Hill. While in Peabody, he was a member of the Lions Club. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cutrina Gallagher of Hinesville, Ga., a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ronald Desrocher of Haverhill, Ma., 4 sisters, Ruth Palmeri of Bedford, Mary Skeets Govoni of Danvers, Irene Churchill of Fl. and Dorothy De Piano of Burlington, Ma.; 5 grandchildren, Brady Gallagher with the U.S.Army, Todd Gallagher and Thomas Gallagher of Ga., and Brian and Ronald Desrocher of Haverhill, Ma. and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Patricia Ciano. His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by Services in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.
