Jaime S (Maki) Smith, 35, of Salem, died Wednesday afternoon at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston following a lengthy battle with Cystic Fibrosis. She was the devoted wife of Brett Smith with whom she shared over 7 years of marriage. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of Donna (Labrecque) Maki of Salem and the late Steven Maki. Jaime was an amazing person who touched the lives of many and inspired all those who knew her with her positive attitude and strength of spirit. She was a devout Jehovah’s Witness who loved to talk about her faith. That faith was a source of strength in her life and a source of hope in her lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Jaime loved to travel and to spend time with family, especially spending long days with Brett on the beach. Besides her loving husband and mother, she is survived by a brother, Jacob and his wife Jennifer Maki of Peabody, her aunt Diane Labrecque of Salem, a niece, Olivia Maki, three nephews, Alex Smith, Zachary Jodoin, and Lucas Maki, her mother-in-law, Marlene and her husband Gary Sewall of Salem and her father-in-law, Frank Smith of Salem, and also by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
