Obituary of Martha Charlotte (Ogle) Smith
Martha Charlotte (Ogle) Smith, beloved wife of Stanley S. Smith, Sr. for 60 years and daughter of the late W.R. Ogle and Eula Mae (Smith) Ogle, died Tuesday evening at her home in Peabody.
Mrs. Smith attended West Congregational Church in Peabody where she taught Sunday School and Pioneer Girls for many years. She was an active member of the Young at Heart and Senior Outreach ministries. Mrs. Smith also served as Warden for many years at Ward 6 Precinct 1 in Peabody.
She also served with the United States Coast Guard during World War II as a switchboard operator.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley S. Smith Sr., her son Stanley S. Smith Jr., and his wife Susan, Bradley L. Smith and his wife Karen, a daughter Andrea M. Young and her fiancé, Steve Arnold, her grandchildren, Scott and Eric Smith, Troy Smith, Joelle LeBlanc, Nicole Diorio, Ryin Smith, and Joseph, Branden, Patrick, and Joy Young. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the West Congregational Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 or the Memorial Fund, West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson St., Peabody, MA 01960.
