Obituary of Peter John O'Keefe

Peter John O’Keefe, 38, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and formerly of Danvers, died on Wednesday. He was the beloved husband of Kara (Gavagan) O’Keefe. Born in Lawrence, he was the son of Robert O’Keefe of Danvers and Nina (Shea) of Kennebunk, Maine. He graduated from St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers in 1993 and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1998, where he received a B.A. in Political Science. Peter was employed by Meditech in Westwood and Norwood and bartended at Symphony Hall in Boston. Peter lived life to the fullest. He loved music, especially Phish. He loved the summer; going to the beach and visiting his family in Maine. He loved gardening in his patio in Cambridge. He was a history buff and a proud Republican. Peter brought out the best in people; bringing joy to loved ones brought him joy. He was thoughtful, generous, and loyal. Besides his loving wife Kara, he is survived by his parents, Robert O’Keefe and Nina O'Keefe, his brother, Kevin O’Keefe of Salem, his sister, Cate O’Keefe of Fairhaven, and by several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 22 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 23 at 11:30 AM at St. Richards Church, 90 Forest Street, Danvers. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 226 North Street, Salem.
