Obituary of Robert Francis Quinn

Robert F. Quinn, 92, a lifelong resident of Peabody, passed suddenly on September 20, 2013 at the NSMCSalemHospital. He had been employed for many years at the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Co, Peabody before working for the City of Peabody Welfare Department. During this time, he completed his BA at GoddardCollege in Vermont. Upon his retirement, he began his second career at the Peabody Council on Aging where he worked for many years. As a life-long lover of history, he pursued his passion and was elected president of the Peabody Historical Society and helped initiate the “Preserve Brooksby Farms” movement. He as a docent at the George Peabody House and the Peabody Leather Workers Union. Bob was a faithful parishioner and nursing home Eucharistic Minister at St. John the BaptistChurch and a devoted member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Holy Name Society and the North Shore Catholic Charities. He continued his work outside the country traveling to Haiti for missionary work. He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Koziska Quinn and is survived by his brother Edward Quinn of Peabody, his daughters, Mary and her husband Bobby Gene Peoples of Durham, NC, and Debbie Quinn of Peabody; his sons John Quinn of Clinton, CT., Bob and his wife Donna Quinn of East Greenwich, RI, Kevin and his wife Robin Quinn of Annandale,VA and Mark Quinn of Peabody. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jake Peoples and his wife Stephanie of TN, Katie Peoples of Washington, DC, Tom and Joe Quinn of Peabody and Bobby and Caroline Quinn of RI and his great granddaughter, Peyton Peoples of TN. The Quinn family would like to pay special tribute and thanks to Bob’s physician, Dr. Mary Cunningham, his longtime caring and thoughtful physician. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, c/o St. John’sChurch, 16 Church St., PeabodyMA in his memory as this was his special cause.
