Obituary of Albert J Foisy

Albert J. Foisy, 94, of Haverhill and formerly of Peabody, died Saturday at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice M. (Martin) Foisy. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Ciles and Margaret (Kirby) Foisy. He was raised and educated in Lynn, later lived in Peabody and has spent the last few years living in Haverhill with his son Albert J.P. Foisy. Albert was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army. He was Captain with the 87th Infantry division who saw action during the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of the first company to liberate Buchenwald Concentration Camp. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart among many other awards for bravery during combat. Following the war, Albert was employed as comptroller for Sylvania for over 40 years. After his unofficially retirement from Sylvania, Albert worked for an additional 25 years as Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the North Shore Chamber of Commerce before he finally retired at the age of 89 five years ago. Albert is survived by his children, Diana C. and her husband Richard “Pete” McGonnell of Peabody, Albert J.P. and his wife Carol Samson Foisy of Haverhill, Donna M. and her husband William Monte of Salem and Brian E. Foisy of Peabody, his nephew Gary Foisy of Falmouth and is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother George Foisy. Following cremation, a Memorial Service to be held at the family lot at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 181 Lake St., Peabody on Wednesday at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Following the service, family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at Angelica’s Restaurant, 49 S Main St., Middleton, MA @ 11:15 AM.
