Obituary of Jose F. Bento

Jose F. Bento, 52, of Peabody died Suddenly Sunday at the Salem Hospital where he was rushed after taking an ill turn at his home. He was the husband of Deolinda (Melo) Bento with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. He was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal on July 2, 1953 the son of Maria (Matos) Bento of New Bedford and the late Antonio Bento and had resided in Peabody for the past 19 years. He was first employed with the Skouras Painting Company and for the past 14 years has operated the Jose Bento Carpentry and Painting Company of Peabody. He was a musician playing the tuba in the Azores and he also loved to go hunting. Surviving him besides his wife and mother are a son, Sgt. Carlos Bento with the US Army reserves of Peabody, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Susana and Evaristo Branco of Westport, Ma and Sara and William Lopez of Folk Polk, LA, 4 grandchildren, Andrew and Makayla Branco , Arianna Duran and William Lopez; 3 brothers, Antonio Bento of Fl., Horacio and Durval Bento both of New Bedford, MA; 3 sisters,Lurdes Cardoso, Maria Jose Frois and Paula Ferreira all of New Bedford, MA and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joao Bento and Natercia Bento. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway,Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut ST., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
