Obituary of George Manos

George Manos, 84, of Peabody, died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Seacoast Nursing Home in Gloucester. He was the husband of the late Carolyn (Rantz) Manos who died in 1997. He was born in Peabody on November 14, 1928, the son of the late Apostolas and Stella (Kopetanan) Manos and had resided in Peabody most of his life. He was a graduate of PeabodyHigh School in 1947 and later entered the US Air Force in 1950 serving 4 years in the Korean War prior to his discharge in 1954. He then worked at the E.G. & G. Engineering Co, in Salem for 30years moving up to a supervisor prior to his retirement in 1986. George enjoyed doing gardening around his house and had been a member of St. Vasilios Church, Peabody. He leaves a brother, James Manos of North Andover, and his dear friends, Gene Lang, his daughter Pam and husband Tom and his neighbor and caretaker, Patty Lopes all of Peabody. He was predeceased by many other brothers and a sister. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9 , from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with Services held at 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A private burial will be held on Thursday at the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to charity of your choice.
