Obituary of John R. Morton
John R. Morton, 55, of Peabody, died Sunday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Denise (Brochu) Morton with whom he shared over 31 years of marriage.
Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1969.
After High School, he entered the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Saratoga in the Mediterranean Sea during the Vietnam War. He also was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Navy Unit Commendation.
He worked for over 31 years for the Peabody Municipal Light Plant prior to his illness. He also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots going to yard sales.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Brian Morton of Hampton, NH, a daughter, Jillian Morton of Peabody, a bother, Lester Morton of West Bridgewater, two sisters, Sandra Bartlett of North Carolina and Caroline and her husband Ray Ward of Narragansett, RI. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Rachel Thomas of Beverly. He was the father of the late Scott Morton.
His funeral service will be held on FRIDAY at 11:00 AM at St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on b>WEDNESDAY from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody
