Obituary of Adam R. Laitinen

Adam R. Laitinen PEABODY—Adam R. Laitinen, 34, died unexpectedly on Tuesday October 8, 2013 at the Beverly Hospital after taking an ill turn at his home. Born in Salem, he was the son of Michael and Solange (Poirier) Laitinen of Peabody. He grew up there and attended schools in Peabody, Newton, and Boston. Adam had a passion for driving and for music. He trained at the Northeast Technical Institute to be qualified as a Class A Truck Driver. He worked mostly with his father as a Swim Pool Technician with the family business McDuff’s Swimming Pool Service of Salem. Growing up, Adam was an Altar Server at St. John the Baptist Church of Peabody. He was also a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. He also participated in the Special Olympics where he loved competing in Soccer, Swimming and Track. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Salem. Adam enjoyed playing pool/billiards, listening to music while driving, and had a natural gift of not only enjoying movies---he would recite many lines of many movies as he would entertain family and friends. Adam will be remembered for his boundless, giving heart and generosity, as he touched many people in so many ways. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Solange (Poirier) Laitinen of Peabody; a brother Eric & his wife Melissa Laitinen and their children Avery and Jaxson Laitinen of VA; his grandmother Therese Blais-Poirier of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Following cremation, family and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Saturday October 12, 2013 from 2 – 5 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 5 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 200 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
