Obituary of Patricia A. (O'Brien) Henry

Patricia A. (O’Brien) Henry died in Beverly, after a brief illness on Monday, October 14, 2013. Born in Peabody, MA on St. Patrick’s Day 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Josephine (Dooley) O’Brien. Pat embraced her Irish heritage. Her mother’s store, the famous Salem landmark, the Pattee-Anne Shop, was named after her. After graduating from Salem High School, Pat helped with the war effort by working as a mechanic in Dooley’s Garage owned by her uncle Dan. There, she met the love of her life, her husband of 39 years, the late Bob Henry. Pat worked as a clerk for the City of Peabody and later at Sousa Oil. She also spent many years as a homemaker. Pat and Bob raised their family in Danvers and moved to Peabody upon retiring. They were enthusiastic sports fans and held season tickets to the Boston Bruins for over 30 years. They were also avid boaters belonging to the Beverly Harbor Marina and later the Danversport Yacht Club. In later years, Pat continued to live an active life, working out daily at the Beverly YMCA, where she cherished her many friends. She was an expert cook and no one could copy her recipes with the same success. More than anything Pat loved her family. No matter what the need was Pat was always present for those she loved. She would drop everything to give someone a ride, whether to school or across the country, and she robustly cheered her large extended family at every game or performance no matter how big or small. She is survived by her two sons, Robert F. Henry, Jr. of FL and Daniel and his wife Mary Henry of Peabody, her daughter, Margaret and her husband Kevin Corbett of Danvers, and is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother William O’Brien. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Conant St., Danvers to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in AnnunciationCemetery, Hobart St., Danvers.
