Obituary of Stephen C. Lygomenos

Stephen C. Lygomenos, 83, of Peabody, died Friday evening At his residence after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Josephine (Royal) Lygomenos with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, son of the late Charles and Markella (Hiou) Lygomenos, he resided most of his life in Peabody. Following his graduation from Peabody High School, he entered the U.S.Coast Guard where he served during WWII . After the war, he resided in California before moving back to Peabody to join in his family Liquor store business prior to his retirement 25 years ago. He had been a member of the V.F.W. Post 1011 of Peabody and the Essex Lodge of Masons A.F. & A.M. of Salem. Surviving him besides his wife are 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Timothy Rodgers of Beverly and Markella and Donald Sauve of Peabody; a brother, Peter Lygomenos of Peabody; 2 grandchildren, Colby & Sean Rodgers both of Beverly and a nephew, Christopher Christy of Peabody. He was the brother of the late Jessica Lygomenos and Despina Tessie Christy. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility (978-531-0398) followed by services in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 10:00 A.M. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
