Joey,

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. She was a very wonderful, sweet person. Like everyone else, I remember her continuous gift of food - particularly the sweet bread and the sweet rice.

Joey, as life has passed, I have had little opportunity to communicate with you. However, when it did happen, I remember them as being warm and enjoyable. You are family, and I share your loss.

Sincerely,

Robert Silva,
Folsom, California

Mrs. Joe, as Joey put it so well, we'll all miss being chased to the car with food to go. I never left your house hungry, even with my best efforts to save room for Treadwell's. Your kind heart and generous spirit will be greatly missed.

Joe,
I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. She was a lovely person. I can't say enough good things about her.

I knew your father (my grandparents were Manuel and Palmira Silva) since I was a tyke. I'm Cyrino's daughter. I met your mother later when your very anxious Dad (I gathered from their conversation that the red tape was horrible) finally brought his new bride over here from Graciosa. My grandparents invited them both over and had a wedding cake for them when she arrived. I was there. We were all so excited to meet her. She was so beautiful, Joe. Very pretty with Long brown hair. Later, I remember when she was pregnant with you and the joy all around, that a beautiful healthy son was born to them. Cigars for the men courtesy of Manuel Silva.

Are you certain about the dates? Could they be 10 years off? I was there when your dad was fretting about the govt paperwork and how long it was taking to get his 'wife' over here. I was standing right in front of him. I couldn't have been witness to all that dialogue between your dad and my grandfather, and seen the frustration on your dad's face if I wasn't even born yet. And I remember the wedding cake and Lucy directing them to stand behind the cake, their photo then being taken by Lucy.

Throughout the decades your wonderful parents and you remained in our lives and you all came to many of the social gatherings, atlest 5 times a year, at the Silva house. I remember you also 'Joey'....a very talkative, open, friendly little boy, running all over the place. The apple of your parents eyes. How they loved you.

This brings me to wonder why you did not mention that your mother had a son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. She deserves that acknowledgement.
Your parents were very proud of their little and eventually growing family. You were their life.

The Manual and Palmira Silva family (all of us)loved you all dearly. Your family was very much our extended family while my grandparents were alive. We had many wonderful times together.

Forgive me, Joe, I just wanted to share a few memories with you.

My sincere condolences to all of you.

Sincerely,
Barbara (Silva)
Ct

Joey, so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was a special person. She was a warm and caring person. Our families spent many a day fishing and eating together. You never left their home hungry, she always had a plate or a bag of food for you to take home with you. I remember the many loaves of sweet bread she made to raise cash for the church. I miss that sweet bread with the sweet rice ontop. Please accept our deepest Sympathies for you and your family. Take care of yourself. Love, Doreen and Mickey
