Obituary of Maureen J. (Shea) Buckley

Maureen J (Shea) Buckley, 73 of Peabody, formerly of Arlington and Ardgroom, Beara, County Cork, Ireland, died October 18, 2013, in Ireland, after a brief illness. Born in Ardgroom, Beara, County Cork, Ireland, daughter of Mary (Connor) and Patrick Shea, and raised in Arlington by her Aunt Margaret and Uncle Patrick O’Shea, she attended St. Mary’s High School, Cambridge, MA. Maureen worked at the Registry of Deeds in Cambridge, MA; Essex County Registry of Deeds; Essex Bank; and Mass Development. Beloved wife of Richard Buckley since 1965, Maureen lived in Peabody, MA where she and Richard raised their two children. She enjoyed traveling, especially to her homeland to visit siblings, and spending time with family and her many dear friends. Maureen was a caring mother to her children Sharon Shatney of Derry, NH and Mark Buckley and his wife Janet of Billerica, MA. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren Amanda, Jacob, and Dayna Shatney of Derry, NH and Sean Buckley of Billerica, MA. Maureen is survived by her sisters Catherine Tarr and her husband William of Southborough, MA, Johanna Bossi and her husband James of Falmouth, MA, and Eileen Shea of Marshfield, MA, and brothers , Denis, of England, and Dermot and Padraig Shea of Cork, Ireland. Maureen was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews in the US, Ireland, and England. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Her funeral will be celebrated on Monday October 28th at 10:00 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by her Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Church Street, Peabody, at 11:00 am. Burial following the mass will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
