Obituary of Thomas G. Hartney

Thomas G. Hartney, 19, of Salem died early Saturday morning at his home after a seven year battle with Leukemia. He was born in Salem on March 22, 1984, the son of Lorraine (Ponticelli) Hartney of Salem and George Hartney of Peabody and resided in Salem for most of his life. He attended Salem Schools and during his youth played on the Salem Little League. He worked as a carpenter’ s helper with Finished by Ron Carpentry and also Noysa Home Improvement Co. of Salem. He was a sports enthusiast and loved to go fishing and working on his car. Surviving him besides his parents are a brother, George Hartney 17 years, of Salem, his step-father, Ron Boyd of Salem, his grandmothers, Lucille Samson of Salem and Jane Hartney of Peabody; his aunts and uncles, Anthony Ponticelli of Beverly, Ray Judit and Chip Keough of Salem, James and Carol Samson of Roslindale, Fred & Lorraine Keough, Kathy & Mary Jane Hartney all of Peabody, Laura Lundblad of Lynnfield, his cousins Troy, Shauna, Daniel, Timmy, Matthew and Jimmy, Justin, Jason and Jessica,Tori, Alex, Jared, Daniel, Brenna and Arianna and many loving friends including Joe White. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Blake Chapel at Harmony Grove Cemetery, 30 Grove St., Salem. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility (978-531-0472).
